Real Estate MarketingWalt Disney once said, “If you dream it, You can do it.” This motto is especially true as you begin your journey into real estate. Sometimes we feel dismal or useless, especially during those weeks where we’re working 50 or 60 hours to no avail. We know the sale will come… eventually… but it can be hard to carry on unless we have a vision and set of goals we’re working toward. Get ready to ask yourself some serious questions. Then write the answers out in a note pad, on your computer or even on poster board to hang on the wall near your desk. This vision will be an important reminder of where you’re headed. First, what is your main objective in life? Do you want a big house, a trip to South America, or to pay your kid’s college tuition? Do you want to retire at 55? Do you want to get your first million dollar paycheck? Do you want to pay off your debts and sock $100,000 away in the bank? Now consider how real estate marketing can factor into these end goals. What will your short term strategies be? Do you want to double your client base in the next year? Do you want six new clients by the end of the month? Do you want to own your own company? Do you want to sell a house each week? Define these goals and be idealistic, but also honest with yourself. Learning is an important part of any process. Read online articles and make the library your best friend. Each year you should read at least one new real estate marketing book to gain perspective and fresh information. By gaining new skills, whether it’s in web design, virtual tour creation, search engine optimization or lead generation, will give you that satisfying feeling of progress and personal growth. These skills will often times link to your goals, making you that much more productive! Keep a journal! It may sound juvenile or silly, but jotting down notes on the clients, on your feelings, on your strengths and weaknesses of each day will help you chart your progress. Also, when it comes time for follow up, that client will be fresh in your mind. Sometimes keeping motivated can be tricky. It may help to have other friends in the business you can commiserate with or use as a support system when you feel weakened. Also, look back at your goals and dreams poster board and remember why you got into real estate in the first place and what you hope to gain in the end. Celebrate small triumphs. Take your spouse out to dinner when you get a big client or crack open the champagne. You deserve it! Update your life. Add fresh content to your web page, create a new design for your post cards, or find one new place to advertise. Life can feel pretty routine at times, so some creative outlet can be both relaxing and rewarding. You don’t need a real estate service professional to have you into the office for $50/hour to help you set goals and define your realtor identity. In the end, you are all that you have. So trying various methods to keep yourself positive, focused and goal-oriented will add an additional layer of meaning to your business life.
