There are several problems with this exterior deck support post. 1) The metal bracket is not sturdy enough to support the post where it meets the deck girder beam. Proper metal brackets need to be installed.
2) The base of this post is resting on a 2 x 6" wood board. This board will eventually rot and the deck will settle unevenly. Metal brackets are also needed at the base to properly secure the deck post to the concrete foundation. |
