ZipRealty
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
These guys have over 1100 agents now, have grown like wildfire in the last couple of years. Seems to be mostly just-starting-out types given a bundle of Internet leads. Any opinions on whether these guys are legit, or just riding the bubble?
And who's the best source for online leads that yall have heard of? I've heard a lot about HouseValues & HomeGain (and Realtor.com, for that matter) and would welcome commentary on the value of these leads and the systems they sell. Are online leads more or less valuable in a seller's market like we've got, or a buyer's market? |

Don't waste your time with Homegain or House Values......total waste of money. Instead invest that money into a good pay per click campaign.

I agree with Vegas, HV and HG are both a waste of money and they are taking money out of agents pockets. Learn to generate your own leads and you will last a lot longer in this business than if you rely on others.
As for Zip, 1,100 real estate agents isn't all that big. There are single offices in large markets that have 4-500 agents in them.

When I got my licence initially, I went to one of those idiotic meetings with Zip Realty. They supposedly give you lots of leads and then take out ridiculous technology charges out of you. That leaves you nothing after a closing.

Interesting, I sort of thought them covering marketing/lead cost would be helpful for starting off without much funds - any other feedback from current/former ZipAgents? Do yall think it'd be best to try & look into more trad'l brokers? |

Whereever you are living, if you want leads, type in "<your city> real estate" in google. Whoever is in the top page without 100s of agents in their roster, apply to them. If you are in Chicago, in a few months that person will be me, so see me.

Re: ZipRealty

To give my 2 cents worth, Homegain, Housevalues and even househunt charge a lot of money for very minimal leads. Put some effort into your own website and you can get 20X the leads those others offer, and if you do it right, for a fraction of the price. For example, Househunt charged my old boss 1000 setup and around 500 per month, and he was maybe getting 30 leads per month. I did some SEO on his website and now he probably pulls in 15-20 leads per day.

Re: ZipRealty

I worked for a broker who had a contract with HouseValues.com for the whole county leads. I know she paid alot but we got a lot of referrals from then. That was when they (House Values.com) was advertising alot on the local TV. If it paid for itself that I don't know. Just thought I'd throw in my 2cents. |

Re: ZipRealty

one thing for sure don't use GetMyHomesValues.com they use bait and switch tactic, they will unsubscribe you in 5-7 days after you sign in (and paid for it) if you won't upgrade to a higher paying program. You get all crappy explanation why you are being charged a higher price.
I know this is not the first time they have done this because another agent called me and was wondering who got his area from them, he got kicked out too lol |
