An All-Weather Outdoor TV? — ‘I Want That!’ Debuts on HGTV

Bathroom tiles made of leather.  Machines that make pure, drinkable water from thin air.  A cell phone-controlled oven that cooks and refrigerates.

These aren't the stuff of dreams or from the future. These are products in the market today ― the types of products that will be featured regularly on the new HGTV show, “I Want That!” — the latest show produced by the NAHB Production Group.

HGTV’s “I Want That!” will debut on Sunday, April 3, at 8:30 p.m. EST. Check the HGTV Web site for local listings.

“I Want That!” will showcase innovations for the home that are so new they almost haven't happened yet. From materials to floor plans, the show introduces the latest products and ideas from the home owners, builders, architects, carpenters, designers and manufacturers who are setting the trends and creating the buzz.

The first show will feature some amazing outdoor products, such as dent-resistent outdoor cabinets with a sleek, stylish auto body-type finish; living room-quality outdoor carpeting; an all-weather, permanent installation, outdoor television; and the WeatherHawk, a system that monitors the weather in a home’s backyard and beams constant live information to the owner's home computer. Connect the WeatherHawk up to a home automation system and it can become a personal house sitter, performing tasks such as closing shutters when wind speeds exceed a certain limit or turning off the lawn sprinkler when it starts to rain.

“I Want That!” is hosted by Kendis Gibson and Aileen Avery and produced by NAHB’s senior producer, Jean Connolly.

The NAHB Production Group is a full-service, self-contained, media production unit creating programming for cable television, broadcast television, non-profit, museum and corporate clients. Productions range from magazine format shows for general audiences to museum-installation videos for specialized use. The production group includes award winning journalists, writers and photographers with experience in broadcast, documentary and corporate television.
