| TAMPA, FL -- BPB, a manufacturer and marketer of interior wall and ceiling products throughout North America, has introduced GlasRoc™ Sheathing, a composite gypsum board for exterior applications that provides exceptional long term protection to weather exposure and sustainability. It is an enhanced version of the patented Glass Reinforced Gypsum Technology developed and used by BPB almost 20 years ago. An additional patent was awarded to BPB in February, 2003. The unique technology behind GlasRoc™ Sheathing combines reinforcing glass mats, fully-embedded into a water-resistant gypsum core positioned beneath a paperless polymer-modified gypsum surface, and a protective acrylic coating on the exterior face. Available in both 1/2-inch standard and 5/8-inch fire-resistance rated panels, GlasRoc™ Sheathing conforms to design and code requirements, and is mold and mildew resistant. Contractors report it is easy to handle and installs in the same manner as conventional gypsum board. Special tools or fasteners are not required, and the board snaps free after simple scoring of one face. The fully-embedded glass mats minimize the skin irritation experienced with competitive products. One of the many unique features of GlasRoc™ is its pliability. The panels are engineered for use on curved surfaces, such as under archways, with no need to score or pre-moisten. This technology, which works effectively on any concave or convex surface, also creates a uniform field and edge hardness, making trimming and fastening fast and easy. Test results showed improved physical performance when compared to competitive glass-faced gypsum sheathing including better dimensional stability, flexural strength and nail pull resistance. In addition, GlasRocTM resists delamination because the glass mats are fully embedded in the panel. GlasRoc™ Sheathing comes with a six-month exposure limited warranty and a full five-year product performance limited warranty. For more information, visit http://www.bpb.com |
