Certified Remodelers - 11/29/2004 - Real Estate Home House Condo

Certified Remodelers

Across the country, more than 800 top-flight remodeling professional remodelers have completed specialized training to earn the designation Certified Graduate Remodelor® (CGR) or Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist (CAPS). Certified Remodelors have the expertise and experience to guide you through your home remodeling project with all the care and attention to detail you would expect from the best in the business.

Certified Graduate Remodelor® (CGR)
Designed to emphasize business management skills as the key to a professional remodeling operation, CGR certification requires that graduates meet prescribed standards of business practice, have proven track records of successful project management, complete a comprehensive training curriculum, and pledge to uphold the program's rigorous code of ethics.

Graduates of the CGR program must meet re-certification criteria every three years. Requirements include: attendance at remodeling indsutry trade shows, business-related seminars and continuing education workshops; proof of insurance, and; letters of recommendation from suppliers and financial institutions.

Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist (CAPS)
The Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist (CAPS) designation program teaches the technical, business management, and customer service skills essential to competing in the fastest-growing segment of the residential remodeling industry – home modifications for aging-in-place.

Aging-in-place means living in one’s home safely, independently and comfortably, regardless of age, income or ability level. It means the pleasure of remaining in a familiar environment throughout one’s maturing years, and the ability to enjoy the familiar daily rituals and the special events that enrich all our lives. It means the reassurance of being able to call a house a home for a lifetime.

The RemodelorsTM Council collaborated with the NAHB Seniors Housing Center, NAHB Research Center and the AARP to create the CAPS program.

For more information on either the CGR or the CAPS programs, please contact at the NAHB Remodelors Council at 800-368-5242 x8216 or via e-mail at remodel@nahb.com.
