Columbus, Ohio Looks Forward To Revitalization Of Housing by Blanche Evans
With plans in the works to revitalize certain areas of the city, Columbus, Ohio is already showing modest gains in home appreciation, say local Realtors. "Columbus is the state capital," says Realtor Andrew Show, "and has gradually grown into the most populous and exciting metro city in the state of Ohio, while still maintaining its mid-western roots and excellent transportation system. Lower priced homes in the metro-Columbus area (under $175,000), if in good condition, are selling quickly, but higher priced home sales are still soft." Say Realtors Gina Myers and Jill Fergus, "We have great central and north-east locations with easy access to I-270, I-71 and 315. A broad range of housing exists in these areas. There's something for everyone! Columbus is in a time of market appreciation. Most of the city is appreciating at a steady but modest rate of two to three percent per year. While this is not a dramatic rise, it is consistent. This makes real estate a good, solid investment in Columbus." "According to the Columbus Board of REALTORS® Multiple Listing Service," says Realtor Raju Mahone. "Central Ohio home sales saw a 3.5 percent increase last month. Over 2,584 homes were sold compared to the 2,497 homes sold in July of 2003. The number of homes sold year to date stands at 15,465 which is 12.7 percent ahead the same period last year." |
