We can offer any or all of the following services:- | LOCATE & IDENTIFY the materials likely to contain asbestos, by carrying out a comprehensive ASBESTOS SURVEY. (1) | | ANALYSE & ASSESS the nature and condition of the material through LABORATORY SAMPLING & TESTING. (2) | | Keep a WRITTEN RECORD of the location of the materials by producing a WRITTEN SURVEY REPORT. (3) | | ASSESS THE RISK of exposure form the asbestos containing materials by using the data obtained from the laboratory sample results and combining this with other site specific factors in a mathematical ALGORITHM. (4) | | Consultancy and advice and preparation of a MANAGEMENT PLAN (5) to control the risks associated with particular premises, circumstances and organisational structure. | | Regularly UPDATE the records and MONITOR the condition of the materials by developing a specific ASBESTOS REGISTER (6) to ensure that the information is always up to date, valid and accessible. |
| (1) ASBESTOS SURVEY | A comprehensive inspection of all the building elements to identify materials containing asbestos within the premises. Samples of known or suspected asbestos containing materials are taken in accordance with the HSE guidance MDHS 100 - Surveying, Sampling and Assessment of Asbestos Containing Materials in Premises for Management Plans. All surveys are undertaken by fully trained, qualified and experienced Asbestos Surveyors and the greatest care is taken to minimise disruption to normal operation of the premises. | | (2) LABORATORY SAMPLING & TESTING | Is undertaken on the samples taken from the known or suspected asbestos containing materials to identify and confirm the presence and type of asbestos contained in the material.
It is important to identify the type of asbestos to make appropriate risk assessments and recommendations for the management of asbestos as some forms of asbestos are more dangerous than others. | | (3) WRITTEN SURVEY REPORT | The report will be produced in written format, containing photographs and references to samples taken in order that all the incidences of asbestos within the premises can be quickly and accurately identified.
| | (4) THE MATHEMATICAL ALGORITHM | Is a method of producing an accurate and consistent risk assessment of asbestos containing materials so that they can be effectively monitored and therefore managed. All factors regarding the type, form, nature and content of asbestos as identified by the laboratory tests are combined with site specific information such as location, use, accessibilities, condition and susceptibilities to damage to produce a numerical value as the basis of a consistent risk assessment and to determine a recommendation for management and/or remedial works.
| | (5) MANAGEMENT PLAN | The Management Plan is an essential tool in controlling the risks posed by the presence of asbestos containing materials within a property. | | (6) ASBESTOS REGISTER | Central to the Management Plan is the Asbestos Register, which provides a comprehensive source of current information on the presence, condition and location of asbestos containing materials within the premises. It is essential that the risks associated with asbestos are monitored and that updated information is available for occupants and any persons carrying out works of maintenance, repair or alteration. Where asbestos containing materials are left in place, it is necessary to monitor the condition of the materials and inspect on a regular basis. Information needs recording and updating regularly and the Asbestos Register is an essential aid in this process.
