  1. Energy Efficient Windows
    Website for the Efficient Window Collaborative. Assists builders, remodelers and home owners in choosing energy efficient windows.
  2. Building and Fire Research Laboratory Software
    The Building and Fire Research Laboratory at NIST offers a range of downloadable software to help make building materials decisions. Areas include Building Economic Analysis, Building Materials Research, Building Environment and Performance, and Fire Simulation and Research.
  3. The Coatings Guide
    The Coatings Guide contains several tools to help users identify low-volatile organic compound/hazardous air pollutant coatings that may serve as drop-in replacements for existing coating operations.
  4. Cool Roof Calculator
    Developed by the U.S. Department of Energy's Oak Ridge National Laboratory, this calculator estimates cooling and heating savings for flat roofs with non-black surfaces.
  5. Electrical Calculators
    Electrician.com has several web-based calculators for determining installation needs.
  6. Energy Efficient Rehab Advisor
    This Advisor describes the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development's (HUD) guidelines for conducting energy efficient housing rehabilitation. HUD recommends following these guidelines when undertaking any type of renovation project in single family and multifamily housing, whether it is privately-owned or public housing.

    DOE's Smart Communities Network provides links to a wide variety of green development tools - for community planning and for building green homes.
  9. Home Energy Saver
    The Home Energy Saver computes a home's energy use on-line based on methods developed at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. By changing one or more features of the modeled home, users can estimate how much energy and money can be saved and how much pollution prevented by implementing energy-efficiency improvements.

    NEST is a set of tools and resources designed to help homeowners choose the right amount of durability for their homes. NEST can find the durable materials help maintain your home at the lowest cost.
  11. Residential Compliance Using REScheck
    The REScheck (formerly MECcheck) materials have been developed to simplify and clarify code compliance with the Model Energy Code (MEC), the International Energy Conservation Code (IECC), and a number of state codes. Download REScheck software to your computer, or use REScheck online.
