Historical Ohio Towns Offer Quality Of Life, Says Local Realtor - 11/10/2004 - Real Estate House Home Condo

Historical Ohio Towns Offer Quality Of Life, Says Local Realtor
by Blanche Evans

Close to big city amenities in nearby Cleveland and Akron, the smaller towns of Brunswick, Brecksville and Berea offer small town quality of life without missing anything, says a local Realtor.

Brunswick

"The community of Brunswick was first settled in 1815 and until 1954 was primarily an agricultural area," begins Realtor Patricia Taylor. "Brunswick's location, almost equal distance between Cleveland and Akron, generated development of large residential areas to accommodate the suburban movement of people from these metropolitan areas. From 1960 to the present, the population has increased rapidly, and all indications are that this trend will continue. Brunswick is a great location to highways, hospitals and all shopping malls. There are seven elementary schools, three middle schools and a high school with a total enrollment of approximately 7,265 students. Available single-family listings are 150, condominiums are 22, and the price range for single family is between $79,500 to $1,599,999. Solds in single family for 2003 were 587, price range from $82,900 to $970,000. Sold condominiums for 2003 were 71, price range from $42,900 to $207,080."

Brecksville

"The City of Brecksville was founded in 1811, it is located in southern Cuyahoga County in northeastern Ohio," continues Taylor. "The city covers 19.54 square miles. Residents have a variety of nearby transportation options because Brecksville is uniquely located "at the center of it all."

About the market, she says, "The number of single-family homes currently for sale is approximately 85, condominiums for sale approximately 28. Number of single-family homes sold in 2003 were 128, with a price range from $128,000 to $1,190,000. Condominiums that sold in 2003 were 40 with a price range from $45,700 to $320,000.

Berea

"This is College Town USA," says Taylor. "Berea is an historic community located approximately 12 miles south of Cleveland, Ohio and two miles south of Cleveland's Hopkins International Airport in Cuyahoga County. Established in 1836, the town has a rich history in education. Berea has a wide range of housing available, from its modest cozy bungalows on tree-lined streets, to new custom, executive-style houses recently built. Some sections of old Berea still feature century-style homes under a canopy of maple and oak trees. Most housing is within walking or biking distance to the Metroparks, shopping and medical facilities. The city of Berea offers its residents a variety of annual events and a quality of life found in few other places."

She adds, "The pricing of homes is stable due to the desirability of the small-town feeling, education, and its convenience to the 'Emerald necklace' Metro park system, airport, and highways. Available single-family homes for sale are 73, condominiums for sale are 11, with a price range of $34,900 to $ 1,299,000. Sold single-family and condominiums for 2003 were 194, with a price range from $ 31,000 to $330,000."
