Move.com Launches
Move.com today launched its nationwide service. The new site offers customers a broad spectrum of online and off-line solutions needed before, during and after a move. Move.com provides numerous decision-support tools and services, including mortgage, home and rental listings, assistance with utility and other service connections, and comprehensive moving and home-related content to help customers when making transitions to new homes or communities. Move.com utilizes the content and expertise of the widely recognized residential real estate brands and companies owned by Cendant including: the CENTURY 21, Coldwell Banker and ERA franchise systems; Cendant Mortgage; Cendant Mobility; Welcome Wagon/GETKO; and National Home Connections. The relocation, real estate and home-related specialists affiliated with these companies together played a role in well over two million moves annually. In addition, move.com integrates content and commerce from a variety of business partners including a new alliance with hardware.com, and other partners such as Allstate Insurance, furniture.com, CarsDirect.com, Ryder Truck Rental, ImproveNet and Carefinder.com. Sarah Nolan, CEO of move.com, said "Move.com is a useful source for the knowledge and tools that can assist people on the move. For our business partners and real estate professionals, this portal will provide valuable access to people who need products and services to make their transitions easier. And Cendant's existing breadth of services and depth of experience give move.com a clear understanding of movers' needs and offer us the core strengths to intelligently guide customers through the entire process." According to the National Association of Realtors® (NAR), 23 percent of all potential homebuyers have searched for a home online, up from two percent in 1995. And it's not just customers who are using the Internet to find new homes. Seventy-two percent of real estate firms and 57 percent of Realtors report generating at least some of their business from online services. As more people realize the value of the Internet in the real estate market, these numbers are expected to rise. "We developed move.com due to increasing demand from Web users seeking a complete online destination to improve their transitions," said Sarah Nolan. "Move.com manages the moving process by providing the kind of 'friend-in-need' service that one might find with a knowledgeable guide or trusted friend. It is our goal to make it easier for people to make a move and settle into their new communities." |
