Research Center Seeks Land Development Expert
 

The NAHB Research Center is seeking candidate with expertise in land development ― preferably a professor of civil or environmental engineering or related field — for its Scholar in Residence Program. The program is to begin this summer.

The successful candidate will assist with establishing the research center’s National Residential Land Development Technology Center. The program is funded by the National Housing Endowment.

The candidate will be responsible for the identification and compilation of seminal publications, reports and research pertaining to residential land development technologies and techniques. The candidate will also play a key role in planning a roundtable with industry and government leaders for establishing the National Residential Land Development Technology Center and forming a research agenda.

Requirements

The successful candidate should be an expert in the areas of environmental impacts of land development, storm water management techniques and technologies implementation and research methods for evaluating environmental impacts and environmental protection technologies. The candidate should also have a thorough understanding of federal, state and local environmental regulations and permitting processes.

Other areas of activity may include storm water management, pollution control technologies, brownfield development, onsite water treatment technologies, the relationship of land use patterns to environmental quality and watershed management and modeling

The candidate should be a recognized authority in the fields described, with numerous relevant publications.

The successful candidate will receive a stipend from the National Housing Endowment. Housing will be provided in the NAHB Research Home Park. The start and end date is flexible and negotiable.
