Tumwater is beautifully situated to provide lovely views of Puget Sound as well as majestic Mr. Rainier, say local Realtors. The area is growing with nature lovers, they say. "Nestled in beautiful Puget Sound, among the Black Hills with views of majestic Mt. Rainier, Tumwater lakes abound with great fishing and skiing summer fun," suggest Realtors Rich and Diana Greene. "We're two hours to ocean beaches with occasional razor clam-digging. We're one hour to Seattle or two hours to Portland. We are the Evergreen State! About the market, the Greenes say, "Winter market is picking up, now is the time to buy or sell a home. Olympia is a quiet community with small town friendliness which is a strong seller's market, although the builders are ready in 2004 to meet the demand with many new subdivisions to choose from. Rates are still low making home buying in Thurston County very desirable." Says Realtor Beth Karnofski, "Tumwater is moderately populated, yet growing in leaps and bounds. It still has a slower, rural feeling the further removed from the city core of Olympia. Our market trend in 2004 has remained fast-paced and another year of over 10 percent appreciation. Our area listing inventory has continued to dwindle, as more folks remain in their existing homes and opt to remodel."
