I hope you feel we've covered every aspect of energy saving home improvements from A to Z. I can't think of anything we've missed. However, you have to keep feeding your mind with the new technologies and aspects of this business that are coming into the market. I want to take the time now to commend you on getting this far through the book. I've heard statistics that have shown that less than 10% of the people who purchase self-improvement books and audio CDs, ever even read the books and/or listen to the CDs one complete time. To me that's an amazing statistic. People spend their hard earned money on something, and then they get lazy or distracted and they don't follow through with it. They purchase books and CDs and read 1/2 of the book or listen to 1/2 the CD, and then they put them on a shelf to collect dust.
I take my hat off to you. You have the ambition, willpower and the foresight to make an attempt at improving your own life, as well as the life of others. By getting this far in this book, you've shown that you're part of the minority within the majority. And that's a unique group of people who really want to have a positive impact on their own lives and the lives of the people around them. Abraham Lincoln said that "A man who follows a crowd will never be followed by a crowd." So be a leader in everything you do.

I'll tell you a story before I go. I will never forget the time that I was following up with some of my clients to see how they were doing in the homes they purchased that I had inspected and/or appraised for them. One client bought a condo that I had inspected for him. His name was Dan Rones. When I called to find out how Dan was doing, his father answered the phone since he was now living in the condo. What his father told me on the phone left me absolutely stunned and I will never forget that conversation. Dan was 33 years old and just about to start law school when he had a brain aneurysm in his sleep and died. Due to the severe shock of losing his son, his father had a stroke the week after the funeral and became paralyzed in both legs and one arm.
In business and life we often get so caught up and in a way "trapped" in trying to earn a living and take care of the problems and tasks that confront us on a daily basis. It's often hard to take a step back and "smell the roses" that are all around us. (I know I have a hard time doing it). The sad and tragic story of Dan Rones and his father brings to mind the old saying, "I cried the blues cause I had no shoes. Until upon the street I saw a man that had no feet!"
I heard another saying that's interesting - and true,
"If you look over your right shoulder, you will always see someone that you wish you were. But if you look over your left shoulder, you'll thank God you're who you are."
Life is short and precious. If you truly live an honest and moral life and leave this world a little better off then when you got here, then you can consider yourself a success. Success is not measured by how big your wallet is. Success is measured by how big your heart is. I will now leave you with a famous Gaelic Blessing:
