What This Book Will NOT Teach You
I apologize if my grammar is not perfect in some sentences of this book. However, my objective is to teach real estate in an easy-to-understand way without being too formal, technical, or boring! My goal is to teach you as much as possible about the topics covered in this book. All of my books and DVDs are self-edited and self-published and I do the best I can with the time I have available.
This book will teach you a lot about topics related to the Real Estate Appraisal business. However, what this book will not do is teach you EVERYTHING about every single aspect of the Real Estate Appraisal business. Why? Well, the reason is that no book ever written on any topic can teach you everything in one book. It's just not possible due to the cost and size limitations for printing a book. Every book can teach you something, but no book will teach you everything. Seems obvious right? So are you wondering why I'm mentioning this at all since it's so obvious? The reason I mention it is that each year I receive thousands of emails from customers telling me they are very happy with my books and DVDs and feel my products are a great value for the price. Those emails I appreciate very much. Unfortunately, a few times per year I'll receive an email from a reader complaining that my $20 book or DVD did not teach them everything about every single aspect of the Real Estate Appraisal business!! It's pretty hard to imagine that there actually are some people who think that for $20 a book or DVD should give them the equivalent of decades of experience combined with a Masters Degree on the book subject. If it were that easy, then there would be no need for universities, training schools, or continuing education. All people would have to do is pay $20 for a book or DVD and have a world of information at their fingertips - kind of like having all of the content from every web site on that topic available in one book. Technology and information in all professions is constantly changing and improving. Even if it were possible to write and publish a book that covered everything bout a topic, that book would not be up-to-date six months after it was printed due to the new technology and information that came out since the book publication date.
For the microscopic percentage of readers who expect to get the "world in the palm of their hands" for $20, let me explain how authors and publishers create and price their products - both large publishing houses and self-published authors. When any author or any company publishes a book or DVD they have to decide two things:
1) Who their target audience/customers are.
2) What the final retail price will be for the product.
Based upon these two criteria, the author and publisher will then determine how much money and time they will spend to create the book or DVD. For example, there are real estate training books and DVD packages that cost as much as $5,000.00. There are also many real estate schools that charge thousands of dollars for their training. A real estate Masters Degree program costs tens of thousands of dollars at universities. These authors, publishers and schools do not sell their training, books, or DVDs for $20 since they wouldn't be in business long if they did. The difference in the content of those products and my products is that their very expensive products are targeted for someone who is already an EXPERT in that profession and who is looking for continuing education credits and training materials that are designed for professionals with many years of experience. The reason why their training materials are so expensive is based upon their audience/customers who have to pay high prices to get more extensive and technical training materials. This enables the customer to receive the continuing education credits required by professional organizations they belong to. A general reader or a non-expert in that profession would be overwhelmed with the in-depth topics and technical details in a book or DVD designed for someone who is already an expert in that field. A book that an expert reads is too complex and technical for a beginner or intermediate level reader to comprehend. It's the same in all professions, not just in real estate.
