I've included these last sections because I felt they're a very important part of giving you a complete picture of the real estate business in general. Some of these things you're going to have to experience for yourself to really see and understand what I mean. The school of hard knocks will always teach you the hard way, but you'll learn your lessons well! I won't include the icon keys for safety items and war stories in this section of the book. The reason I'm not including them is because this section is filled with war stories and safety issues and there would be icon keys for just about every paragraph! Also, I'm not going to "pull any punches" in this section. I'm not going to paint some fairy tale, rosy picture or "sugarcoat" anything. I have written this section in a straight-forward, honest, direct, sincere - and sometimes VERY BLUNT manner!! I hope you are not shocked or offended by anything you read in this book. Everything I have written is the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.
Every single thing I mention in this book is from actual experiences that I have personally encountered or I have had friends in this business encounter them. I've learned from my years in business and life that money is definitely a truth serum that always brings out the true character and integrity of a person and will reveal what they are really like deep down inside.
After reading these sections you might say, "This is just a bunch of negative and exaggerated examples of not trusting your fellow man. " Well, I've got news for you sweetheart, it may be negative and it may make you wonder about trusting your fellow man; but no matter what you call it, I call every bit of it Reality, Reality, Reality!!!! Every single thing I mention in this book is from actual experiences that I have personally encountered or I have had friends in this business encounter them. I only wish that I had a nickel for each time I've seen it happen. If I did, I wouldn't need to work anymore! You can go through life with blind faith and leave yourself wide open by trusting everyone. But just remember the old saying, "A fool and his money are soon parted." I have a lot of experience in all aspects of residential real estate. From this experience I could tell you war stories that would make your head spin. I've learned from my years in business and life that money is definitely a truth serumthat always brings out the true character and integrity of a person and will reveal what they are really like deep down inside. If you want to see what someone is really like deep down inside and if they're truly honest and have integrity, then look at the way they are when dealing with money. Don't focus on the front or image they portray in public because often that's not a good indicator. Instead look at their actions and how honest they are when dealing with money. That's the true person deep down inside! It's not how much money they have or don't have, because I know a lot more poor people who are far more honest and sincere than many of the wealthy people I've known. Instead look at what the person does to get money and to keep money. Do they compromise their morals or cheat people for money? Are they shrewd and conniving when dealing with money? That's the key to the truth serum! Money has a strange affect on many people. It becomes like an addictive drug that they can't get enough of - regardless of how wealthy they become. The saying, "show me a rich man and I'll show you a crook", unfortunately is true in many cases.
