Lawyers contacting John T. Reed about suing Russ Whitney On 6/20/03, I received two contacts from lawyers who are suing or contemplating suing Russ Whitney. Each found my Web site to be a useful source of facts that would be helpful in litigation. Another writer told me there is a $100 million class action suit about to be filed against Whitney. However, that person asked me for names of former and current Whitney employees who might be willing to help, so I dismissed it as a trick to try to get me to divulge such names. I like the idea of a class action suit against Whitney, though. Such a suit would produce a bigger number than I can generate. As long as he is in charge of a $62 million a year corporation, I will be an insignificant line item on the corporate budget. A class action suit, on the other hand, would be big enough to get his attention. I do not have expertise in class action suits. I understand it is a complex area of law and that it is difficult to get suits certified as class actions. On the other hand, Whitney claims to have grossed aver $100 million in the last two years in his corporation. The corporation has a negative net worth, which is not attractive to class action attorneys, but it may have some insurance and it is suing me for my discussion of the net worth, thereby implying they are in much better financial shape. Another issue, raised by the lawyers who contacted me,, is that my Web site provides a unique resource to those contemplating suing Whitney. Normally, lawyers and/or their clients have to hire expensive and time-consuming private investigators to dig up the stuff I have already dug up and publicized. So if they sue Whitney, my investigative results have enabled them to start far out in front of the normal starting line. I will continue to offer my public information to class-action attorneys. If I become aware of any suits, I will publicize them and invite those with information to consider whether they want to offer it to the class action attorney. Many have already asked me if there are any such suits and are eager to share their experience or information. Russ Whitney has spent a lifetime alienating people. Sounds like fertile ground for a class action suit to me. To be continued, I hope. John T. Reed Copyright 2003 by John T. Reed Last update 6/20/03 John T. Reed, a.k.a.
